Living With Passion is Vital

Tell me something. What is it that really gets you going? What excites you like nothing else? What is the one thing that, when you are doing it, makes you feel like you are really alive? It could be anything, right? It could be fishing or hunting, or it could be building things with wood and power tools. It could be camping, playing a musical instrument, painting, or working with other people. The important thing is that you do have something that stirs your passion and that you are spending time doing it on a regular basis. You are doing that, arent’ you?

When you cast your passions aside or put them on the back burner in favor of just surviving you are losing a very important part of who you were created to be.  My own experience has taught me that losing your passion is pretty easy. All you have to do is get a little too focused on tasks, to-do lists and obligations. Before long you don’t have time for the life-giving activities that bring joy to your heart. It’s almost always a gradual process that goes unnoticed until it’s well advanced. By then the repurcussions are starting to echo throughout other parts of your life. You are tired all the time and never really feel like doing anything but watching T.V. and sleeping. Maybe you find that you’re angry or irritable most of the time and don’t know why. Your relationships with other people may be suffering.

What you need is to re-connect to the life giving part of your heart. The place where God’s passion is expressed through your uniqe passion. It may be difficult at first, if you have denied your passion for any length of time. However, there is hope! The core of who you are and what you love was created by God, making you a unique expression of his personality. To fully express him in you, you must fully express all that he has given you. If you can, take a few minutes right now and remember what it is that makes you feel fully alive, then go after it with all your heart.
